The Chart communicates a point visually. It is a frame which contains a large amount of information and is an editorial product.
The Independent Variable goes along the X-Axis, the Dependent Variable goes along the Y-Axis. Counts should be used, with an honest representation of the scales (Don’t clip them, that’s not right.). If you have to use log/log axes, make sure that’s completely labeled and clear.
Use the chart to communicate a single idea.
